Introduction to skill plateau
“ A skill plateau refers to a phase in the learning and development process where an individual’s progress and improvement in a particular skill or area of expertise appear to level off or slow down. The individual may struggle to make significant advancements during a skill plateau despite continued efforts and practice.” This can be due to various factors discussed in the following blog. If some of them are Diminishing returns, which means when a person starts off working on a skill from scratch, the gain in the craft is terrific, but after some time, it becomes challenging to level up. The comfort zone is another critical factor in building a plateau. Once a certain level of proficiency is attained, one tends to stay within one’s comfort zone, repeating familiar tasks and avoiding challenges. Lack of feedback, monotony, and routine are the factors that affect.
LEARNING WHY SKILL PLATEAU IS BUILD
It’s human nature to keep it to our innate limits if we learn something. Initially, when we learn something, whether it is driving, singing, drawing, writing, or anything else, we know it till we see some improvement in the skill. We work hard to reach an acceptable level of proficiency. If that is called, we lead it to work in the auto-pilot mode. It leads to the building of the skill plateau.
